Job Summary
The Plant Controller provides leadership, direction and coordination of financial planning and budget management functions for our Riddell Operations in Elyria, Ohio. Ensures company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles. Evaluates and reports complex financial information in the areas of budgets, forecasts, financial plans, profit and US governmental requirements. This position provides direction in developing process improvements in financial planning, forecasting, reporting and analysis. The Plant Controller serves as the financial driver of the plant operations, and assists the VP of Manufacturing by providing leadership and strategic guidance to the plant staff through a financial lens. Essential Functions: Assists the VP of Manufacturing at the plant with day to day leadership in the management of the plants financial results Monitors and analyzes monthly operating results against budgets. Establishes and tracks short-range and long-range departmental financial goals, objectives, policies and procedures. Provides financial direction and financial leadership to all members of the manufacturing plants staff. Provides leadership and guidance in the management of working capital, inventory and production planning, leading from a financial perspective. Provides leadership and guidance in the establishment of cost standards and variance tracking. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal budgetary reporting requirements. Drives financial analysis of strategic opportunities, make / buy decisions, and LCC moves. Works with corporate and plant management to develop one year and three year business plans. Establishes and maintains an internal infrastructure to effectively accomplish goals and objectives. Serves as the primary resource for Riddell Finance relative to Plant financial issues. Directs financial audits and provides recommendations for procedural improvements. Supervises and evaluates department staff.
Requirements:
Education and Training: Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA and/or MBA preferred. Minimum 10 years related experience required, including specific experience as a plant controller. Minimum five to seven (5-7) years experience in a senior level finance or accounting position preferred. SAP experience required. Some direct operations experience desired. Some experience in materials and/or production planning a plus. Excellent proficiency in MS Office applications, primarily Excel and Lotus Notes. Extensive experience using automated accounting and financial reporting systems. Experience with Make / Buy and LCC analysis a plus. Extensive knowledge of a variety of financial concepts, practices, processes and procedures. Skills and Abilities: Multi-cultural experience desired Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong teamwork skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with cross functional teams. Solid business and finance acumen. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
